1988 Yamaha FZR1000

"MASTER BLASTER - So much potential!"

1988 Yamaha FZR1000

$650

Rough condition. Miles unknown. The FZR1000 was the crowned the "Bike of the Decade" by several magazines. The 1989 version, crowned the "Bike of the Decade" by Cycle World, had 0-60 mph acceleration time of 2.9 seconds, and a top speed of over 167 mph. The bike was made from 1987 to 1995.

Yamaha already made the FZR1000 brilliant with the first iteration in 1987. It was the first big bore bike with an alloy beam frame, that being first introduced on the smaller brother, the FZR400R: they’re lightweights strictly speaking), and the canted-forward inline-four gave class-leading speed. The result were vertical carburetors slamming fuel into the cylinders. The 20 valve engine proved a winning combination.

Summary

A really good bike that just needs someone willing to invest time and effort to make it a moden classic. So much potential.
